Your Instructor
Estrela Lourenço is a Portuguese professional children's author/illustrator and also a storyboard artist for animation. She has self-published two picture books, A Letter from Alhandra (illustrator) and My Friend (author/illustrator) which won the SCBWI New York Winter Conference Spark Honor Award for self-published authors. Her picture books include Bank Street College Best Children’s Book of the Year selection B is for Bananas (illustrator), Oregon Book Award Finalist Counting to Bananas (illustrator), Merry Christmas, Dear Mars (illustrator), and Walkies: A Dog’s Tale (author/illustrator).
Tziporah Cohen has an MD from Harvard Medical School and an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her debut novel, No Vacancy, for middle grade readers, was published in September 2020 by Groundwood Books and won a Sydney Taylor Honor. She is the author of the picture book biography On the Corner of Chocolate Avenue: How Milton Hershey Brought Milk Chocolate to America (Clarion Books), picture book City Beet (Sleeping Bear Press) and the wordless picture book Afikomen (Groundwood Books), also a winner of a Sydney Taylor Honor. She lives in Toronto, Canada with her family.
